Ground black pepper - organic / fair trade
Ground black pepper from Sri Lanka
Pepper is a climbing plant, like a vine. It is often grown on a large scale, on deforested land, sheltered from the sun by large plastic nets.
Unlike these environmentally harmful crops, our organic pepper is grown using agroforestry in a system that combines a variety of trees and food crops from the canopy to the ground.
To obtain black pepper, the berries are harvested before they are ripe and then sun-dried before being carefully sorted and ground. Tested and inspected, our pepper is pure and contains only premium berries.
Finally, unlike cheap spices, ours are steam sterilized and not irradiated, in order to preserve their benefits and nutritional properties.
Our finely ground pure black pepper is intended for use in cooking. Preferably halfway through or at the end of cooking to retain its strength and aroma. For post-cooking seasoning, we recommend using our freshly ground peppercorns in your mill.
